Jägermeister is a German herbal and spice liqueur with a sweet and bitter taste, containing 35% alcohol. The recipe for the preparation was developed after years of trials by Curt Mast in 1934. It is obtained by macerating 56 herbs and spices in spirit, including thyme, chamomile, sandalwood, saffron, ginger, rosemary, blueberry, basil, parsley and cinnamon .
