This is a typical full bodied Barossa Shiraz delivering loads of flavour.
It will age gracefully for many years.
Varietal: 100% Shiraz
Region: Barossa Valley, South Australia
Australia’s oldest and best known wine region, the Barossa Valley is a warm climate zone with some of the world’s oldest vines. Bold Shiraz wines are the signature and most lauded bounty of the Barossa Valley. The old soils are generally low in fertility and the growing season is long, warm and dry, all of which produces hungry vines that yield densely coloured and intensely flavoured fruit.
Vine to Glass: Yields were generally slightly lower than average, but the mild and even season produced an early harvest of Shiraz with exceptional colour, fragrance and varietal character. This fruit for this wine was harvest by hand in late March and fermented in open and overhead fermenters. The wine was aged for 15 months in oak hogsheads, predominantly American, some German and a little French.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of earthy ripe berry fruit with a touch of spice and some cedar oak. The palate has plenty of rich and spicy berry flavours with some earthiness and nice gritty tannins on the finish. The perfect food match would be roast lamb.
