The aromas are absolutely typical Marlborough - plenty of passionfruit and herbaceous characters with hints of citrus, grass and herbs.
VARIETAL: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
REGION: Marlborough, New Zealand New Zealand’s modern winemaking industry began in Marlborough in the 1970s and Sauvignon Blanc was central to its prosperity from the start. Today, the region has more than 60% of the total vineyard area in New Zealand and Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is an internationally recognised wine style. Key to its success are the relatively warm days and cool nights of the long ripening season.
VINE TO GLASS: Vintage 2014 in Marlborough was remarkable, yielding high crops of excellent fruit. Our vineyard is in the picturesque Waihopai River valley where ancient river shingle adds to the unique terroir. The wine was fermented in closed stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures to retain maximum fruit flavour and freshness. It was bottled in the spring following harvest.
TASTING NOTES: Very aromatic with aromas of green tropical fruits, gooseberry and a hint of cut grass. The palate is clean, fresh and crunchy with plenty of tropical fruit flavour followed up by almost striking acidity – a powerful example of the iconic Marlborough style. Drink chilled with salt and pepper squid.
